If you lose your wallet in a busy city like London, your chances of seeing it again probably aren't great.

But that doesn't mean miracles can't happen.

As product manager Tim Cameron discovered on Monday, sometimes all you need is a good Samaritan with 4p to spare and an online bank account.

Yep, a man called Simon used the 18-character references you can send with an online bank transfer to let Cameron know he'd found his wallet. Cameron explained to Mashable that his sort code and account number are listed on his bank card, which was all the information Simon needed to send the 1p transfers.

"I was incredibly relieved and stoked that Simon had gone to so much effort, so quickly to reunite me with my wallet," said Cameron, adding that the transfers were in his account only 30 minutes after he realised he'd lost it.

He called the number Simon had sent him, got his address, and then rode his bike round with a bottle of red wine to pick up the wallet and thank his hero.

Wonderful work all round.
