Live TV is finally coming to the Apple TV.

Dish Network's Internet-delivered live-TV service will be available on Apple TV as of Monday. Apple announced the addition during its Worldwide Developer Conference.

Apple has been one of the biggest holdouts on Sling, which offers a stripped-down package of cable TV channels over the Internet. A basic Sling package runs $20 per month and includes ESPN, CNN, TBS, TNT and various other channels.

The addition of Sling is particularly notable as Apple had reportedly been working toward developing its own live TV offering. As of December, those plans had been put on hold.

Once an oddity among Apple's hardware offerings, Apple TV has grown into one of the company's most intriguing products. The streaming video box reportedly had its best sales quarter ever at the beginning of 2016. Still, its overall contribution to the company pales in comparison to the iPhone.

Apple noted during its presentation that Apple TV now has more than 6,000 native apps in addition to 1,300 "channels."

Fox Sports Go will also be joining Apple TV later this summer.

There's other good news for Apple TV owners. Apple TV will also be getting a new operating system in the fall. There's also a new remote app coming for iOS.

Among the other features that Apple touted is a single sign in for the various TV apps on the platform.
