當地時間10月13日 ，官方法國足球職業聯盟發布公告稱 ：自2023-2024賽季起 ，法甲法甲球隊的下赛數量將從20支減少到18支 ，2022-23賽季排名墊底的季降最後4支球隊將在賽季結束後降級，因為接下來的官方法甲聯賽將由18支球隊組成，而非20支球隊 。法甲因此 ，下赛下賽季比賽結束後隻會有兩支球隊從法乙聯賽晉級 。季降
法國媒體RMC Sport稱 ，官方在今夏7月份的法甲舉辦的俱樂部大會中 ，法甲聯賽隻有梅斯對此提案提出了反對。下赛法國足球職業聯盟的季降說法是，這項改革是官方2024年下一個轉播權周期開始之前，對法甲和法乙聯賽更全麵改革的法甲一部分 。
