對比沙特隊 ，國足表現沒有改善 ，積分落後人家14分 。本輪0:2完敗日本隊後 ，落後出線區9分，幾乎沒有希望 ，下一輪隻要澳大利亞隊拿分 ，將送國足提前兩輪無緣世界杯 。
這也意味著 ，2月1日大年初一晚8點 ，客場與越南的比賽將成為國足的“榮譽之戰” 。
