塞爾吉奧-越後說道：“我很擔心日本與沙特的前没比賽 ，因為看了球隊同中國隊的力幸力弱比賽 ，我看不到他們在對沙特比賽時得分的好对樣子。日本隊傳球速度單調，進攻模式太少 ，幸好對方實力太弱，無法取勝。日本遇到實力相當的隊伍 ，根本無法得分。目前的球隊沒有得分的能力 ，有時候你會在最後時刻用一個戲劇性的烏龍球取勝 ，比如去年十月對澳大利亞的比賽。很遺憾，今天的日本隊 ，如果沒有戲劇、幸運 、奇跡等詞匯 ，就很難與強隊抗衡。”
另外 ，在今天淩晨進行的12強賽B組第7輪 ，沙特1-0戰勝阿曼 ，穩居小組榜首且領先日本4分 。目前，B組7輪戰罷，沙特以19分排在第一 ，日本獲15分排在第二 ，排在第三的澳大利亞為14分 ，而國足僅積5分排在倒數第二 ，小組出線隻剩理論可能 。
