AirPods may finally get some long-rumored upgrades in the not-too-distant future.
Apple will release an AirPods case that supports wireless charging in the beginning of 2019, according to a new report from the often accurate Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via 9to5Mac).

That may include sweat resistance or a more seamless Hey Siri integration, if previous rumors are to be believed, though Kuo did not go into 2020 redesign specifics.
There's just one thing missing: the actual wireless charger. Kuo said that the AirPods case will support wireless charging. But there's no mention of an actual wireless charging pad to, ya know, charge your AirPods. Which certainly looks like still more trouble with the embattled AirPower.
There was some expectation that Apple would release an update to AirPods or AirPower at its recent fall iPhone and iPad events. But, much to our chagrin, Tim Cook and co. were mum on the accessories front all fall.
Kuo said that there will be improvements to the actual AirPods Bluetooth, along with the case upgrades, in the 2019 update. He also added that AirPods may be Apple's most popular accessory ever, and he forecasted huge sales growth for the product.
Given that demand, we have to ask — yet again — where the heck is AirPower, Apple?!
