金敃友在2010年從J2聯賽的鳥棲砂岩開始職業生涯 ，在日本效力了七年後 ，2017年初自由轉會回到韓國，加盟水原三星。2018年至2019年因服兵役的需要 ，在尚州尚武效力了一年半，兵役結束後再次返回水原三星 。在效力水原三星與尚州尚武的152場比賽中，他貢獻了21球與14次助攻。
金敃友參加過2018俄羅斯世界杯 ，攻守兼備 ，是一名多麵手 ，可以踢左邊翼位 、左後衛 、左邊鋒 ，也能踢中場的多個位置 。
