在0-5慘敗給熱刺之後，兰帕埃弗頓在聯賽中已經遭遇了一波三連敗 ，德埃期間更是弗顿一球未進 ，狂丟8球 。已习有恐賽後 ，惯客埃弗頓主帥蘭帕德表示 ，场输球隊在丟球後的家对降级惧反應很不好 。

蘭帕德將本場慘敗的技術原因歸結為個人失誤，“殘酷的失誤讓我們付出了代價，讓對手得以強大。我們在15到20分鍾的時間裏踢得很舒服 ，個人失誤導致了丟球 ，讓比賽脫離了我們的掌控 。在0-2或者0-3落後的時候 ，這就會變得很艱難 。”
