本賽季，足协將是年底中超曆史上首次進行跨年比賽。即便中超第二階段結束，合同隨後仍舊有兩項賽事要繼續進行，到期一是球员签补足協杯決賽，二是需续中超和中甲的附加賽。

球員與俱樂部絕大多數合同是约或议以每年年末為到期日，由於比賽跨年進行，充协在這種情況下，足协中超俱樂部非常關心合同到期的年底球員能否繼續參賽，是合同否需要辦理什麽手續？很長一段時間，足協沒有給予明確的到期答複，但近日，球员签补足協最終給出了明確的需续規定。

足協通知表示，约或议工作合同在2021賽季結束之前到期的球員，如果俱樂部需要該球員繼續參賽，隻能有兩個辦法，其一，簽訂新的工作合同，即完成續約；其二，簽訂補充協議，即雙方同意該球員代表俱樂部完成2021賽季剩餘比賽的協議。
