Star Wars fandom is, by far, the nit-pickiest fandom on the planet. Nothing gets past it.
So when a microsecond-long shot of Kylo Ren in The Last Jeditrailer showed the Dark Side devotee with a scar in a slightly different placeon his forehead, an inch or two to the right of where he was slashed by Rey's lightsaber in The Force Awakens, you could have predicted what would happen next: fan freakout on Twitter.

Fans weren't buying it:

The theories flew. Was it a different scar? Had Kylo, a bratty teen at heart who seems enamored with his own appearance, dipped into a bacta tank -- the submersible fix-everything medical solution of the Star Wars universe -- healed his facial wound, then messed his forehead up in a different place just to look cooler?
Nope, Johnson finally admitted on Wednesday. He had.

There you have it. If there's one sin in Star Wars world greater than a continuity error, it's goofiness. (Just ask Jar Jar.)
Johnson also wordlessly pointed out that Star Wars directors have fixed things that looked goofy before, such as this bizarre version of the Emperor when he is first seen in the original Empire Strikes Back:

But despair not, fans. Like all so-called mistakes in this franchise, this one will no doubt be acknowledged and retconned in to the official. Remember the stormtrooper bumping his head on the Death Star in the original movie? George Lucas tried to cover that up at first, then finally threw up his hands and added an audible "bonk" to the scene in the special edition.
Plus scars do actually move as they heal in real life, and they can easily be adjusted with plastic surgery. So if you want an in-universe explanation, consider that Kylo Ren worships his grandfather Anakin, aka Darth Vader -- and probably wanted his scar to look a little more like this:
Cool scar, bro.Credit: lucasfilmThe decision to keep his scar didn't work out too well for Anakin, who lost his wife and fell to the Dark Side soon after. We can't imagine his facial modification will endear Kylo Ren to Rey, either.
But at least Supreme Leader Snoke will dig it.
