北京時間10月13日淩晨 ，吴曦中國隊迎來12強賽的上半适第四場小組賽 ，客場挑戰沙特隊 。场被上半場中國隊兩球落後，动下下半場中國隊雖然換上全部歸化球員，半场本最終還是逐渐以2-3負於對手 。本場戰罷，机会积分沙特隊四戰全勝 ，吴曦在B組積分榜上遙遙領先 ，上半适中國隊4場小組賽1勝3負 ，场被僅積3分，动下排名小組第5 ，半场本出線希望渺茫 。逐渐
賽後隊長吳曦在球場邊接受了記者的机会积分采訪 ，吳曦表示 ：“現場的吴曦比賽氛圍非常好 ，我們已經將近兩年沒有在這樣氛圍的客場比賽過，應該說上半場有一些被動 ，下半場我們逐漸適應了這樣的場地和氛圍。其實最後時刻還有進球機會 ，如果能夠再多打進一個進球 ，比分就扳平了 ，比賽結果非常遺憾 。我們確實有機會拿到積分 。非常遺憾沒有做到 。”
對於自己所取得的進球，吳曦表示 ：“對自己能夠取得進球還是非常開心 ，但全隊沒有拿到積分 ，感覺比較遺憾 。”（搜狐體育 裴力）
