關於輪換，为何索帥表示 ：“我們為上一場比賽付出了很大的索帅努力 ，精神上、解释身體上都是曼联如此，所以我們需要一些新生力量 。轮换這是遭质一場早場的比賽 ，有一個良好的疑马优先于桑開局十分重要。今天上場的为何也都是十分優秀的球員，我認為他們有實力應對今天的索帅挑戰 。”
但來自《曼徹斯特晚報》的記者理查德-費顯然不買賬 。理查德-費指出：“如果曼聯想要在進攻端有不同的選擇，那麽在左路的首發上 ，讓馬夏爾的順位在桑喬之前是沒有意義的。過去的24場比賽 ，馬夏爾總共打入2球，全都發生在9-0南安普頓的那場比賽中 ，讓他首發毫無意義。如果曼聯真的想做出調整 ，為什麽桑喬 、林加德 、範德貝克沒有獲得機會？”
