沃特福德官方繼續寫道：“但是宣布在本賽季的英超還剩下一半比賽的情況下 ，俱樂部高層認為 ，主帅执教主教練的拉涅利下更替會讓新任主教練擁有充足的時間來熟悉球隊 ，並在最終帶領一支優秀的课仅隊伍完成留在英超賽場的目標 。”
值得一提的官方是 ，在拉涅利成為沃特福德主教練之後 ，至今隻過了112天 。在其帶隊的13場比賽中 ，沃特福德隻取得了7個積分 。如今20輪比賽過後 ，沃特福德隻拿到了14個積分 ，排名積分榜倒數第二位 。
