費爾南迪尼奧表示 ：“和上個賽季一樣 ，离开我沒有踢很多的曼城比賽，但是下赛西踢我會在球員的身邊 ，盡我所能的回巴去幫助球隊。有時候這體現在場外 ，南迪尼奥有時候則是自宣在場上 。我想要繼續有規律的离开踢球 ，我會回到巴西踢球了 。這是我和我的家人共同做出的決定 ，他們對我來說是最重要的。”
隨後的教練新聞發布會 ，當記者向瓜迪奧拉提問 ，對費鳥離隊作何感想時 ，瓜迪奧拉聽了兩遍問題才回過神 ，並且表示 ：“噢 ！我也不知道這件事 ，會向他本人再打聽打聽 。”
費爾南迪尼奧在2013年夏天從礦工轉會加盟曼城 ，當時他的轉會費就高達4000萬歐元。效力曼城至今 ，他在各項賽事出場373次 ，貢獻25球32助 ，贏得4座英超冠軍 、1座足總杯冠軍、6座聯賽杯冠軍和2座社區盾 。
