由於此前的育总女足選帥競聘水慶霞並沒有參加 ，因此她最終出任中國女足主帥還是局主进京一個比較令人意外的結果 。對此，领导解放日報記者陳華披露了相關的召唤內情 ：
中國足協主席辦公會，應該是媒体秘水面谈一個常設機構吧 ，而且應該不止是人揭中國足協人士 。問了一位退休的庆霞女足圈內人士 ，他得到的被体信息是 ：水指導原本在昆明帶上海女足征戰聯賽 ，但被召喚進京“麵試” 。育总和水指導進行交流溝通的局主进京有關人士，並不是领导中國足協主席陳戌源（還在西亞督戰） ，也不是中國足協黨委書記杜兆才，而是國家體育總局的主要領導 。
