4輪12強賽過後 ，國足4戰1勝3負積3分排名小組第5 。本輪戰勝國足的沙特隊4戰全勝 ，以12分高居榜首，澳大利亞隊9分緊隨其後 。阿曼和日本本輪都贏得了比賽的勝利，積分都增加到6分 ，分列第3和第4名 。4戰皆敗的越南小組墊底 。
從目前的積分情況看 ，下輪國足與阿曼之戰，很可能是一場相當於6分價值的比賽 。如果國足能夠戰勝阿曼 ，那麽出線形勢還有轉機 。一旦落敗 ，意味著國足與小組前3名的積分差距將拉大到6分 ，追趕將變得非常困難 。
