It's confirmed: The next Apple iPhone event will take place on Sept. 7.
Invitations went out today, solidifying what has been the rumored date for Apple's flagship event. Insiders expect to see the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8. And, like previous Apple events that always feature some kind of theme, this year's invitation says "Far Out" with a starry nighttime aesthetic. So... something to do with space? Or, maybe it's something to do with a light-field camera system? Hrmmm...
The event, as has been the case for the past few years, will be streamed live from Apple Park at the company's Cupertino, CA headquarters and will be open to a limited number of in-person attendees like the last Apple event.
While the tech giant's iconic event typically takes place on the second Tuesday in September, this year's will be a week earlier and on a Wednesday. As Bloomberg's Mark Gurman speculated, this might be to give press an extra day to travel after the Labor Day long weekend. But why is it taking place a week earlier than usual? Perhaps for more time to juice sales before the end of the fiscal fourth quarter, according to Gurman.

Apple experts anticipate big changes to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, including an always-on display and the long-awaited death of the dreaded notch. Plus, the Apple Watch Series 8 could come with a rugged "Pro" model for athletes. Also, pour one out for the iPhone mini, which underperformed last year and might not be coming back.
Will this year's Apple event really be that far out? Let the speculation begin.
