北京時間11月17日淩晨 ，哈兰在2022世界杯預選賽歐洲區G組最後一輪的德无一場焦點戰中 ，荷蘭在主場2-0擊敗挪威 ，界杯界杯在自己得以直接晉級世界杯正賽之時 ，连续也讓挪威直接告別了明年的错过卡塔爾 。
在本輪比賽前 ，欧洲荷蘭 、杯世挪威和土耳其分別積20分 、遗憾缘世18分和18分，哈兰挪威仍存在拿到附加賽名額的德无機會，甚至是界杯界杯直接晉級正賽的機會。但隨著輸給荷蘭和土耳其的连续取勝 ，挪威在10輪戰罷後隻排在小組第三 ，错过直接無緣明夏的欧洲世界杯 。
值得一提的是 ，由於在俱樂部比賽中受傷 ，哈蘭德無法出戰挪威的兩場關鍵戰 。而在無緣世界杯後，算上此前缺席的歐洲杯 ，擁有哈蘭德 、厄德高等天才球員的挪威 ，已經連續缺席了歐洲杯和世界杯 。
