英超副班長諾維奇近日一直在尋找新主帥 ，曝兰帕德此前蘭帕德曾是退出熱門人選 。不過《太陽報》透露 ，奇主球队諾維奇在冬季無法提供引援資金 ，帅竞蘭帕德已經退出競爭 ，争因而剛從維拉下課的冬窗迪恩-史密斯成為諾維奇新主帥的首選 。
諾維奇在本賽季英超聯賽1勝2平8負 ，没钱積5分在英超積分榜上墊底。引援上周諾維奇解雇了前主帥丹尼爾-法爾克 ，曝兰帕德並開始尋找新主帥 。退出本周四諾維奇體育總監斯圖爾特-韋伯分別了蘭帕德 、奇主球队迪恩-史密斯進行了麵談 ，帅竞希望能夠盡快敲定新主帥。争因
《太陽報》透露 ，冬窗諾維奇俱樂部告知蘭帕德和迪恩-史密斯 ，没钱由於俱樂部在今年夏天花費了6000萬英鎊引援，因此在冬季轉會期已經拿不出引援資金 。著名足球記者羅馬諾透露 ，這樣的條件無法說服蘭帕德 ，他認為在這種情況下自己難以扭轉球隊的困難局麵 ，並且已經退出諾維奇主帥的競爭 。
在蘭帕德退出後 ，迪恩-史密斯已經成為諾維奇新主帥的首選，他在維拉下課一周後就有望找到新的工作 。本賽季諾維奇隻打進5球卻丟了26球 ，是英超進球最少丟球最多的球隊，不過目前他們距離倒數第四沃特福德隻有5分差距 ，而接下來還有27輪英超聯賽 ，這意味著迪恩-史密斯如果接手球隊 ，盡管挑戰很大但依然有率隊保級的希望 。
