Drink trays: Good for carrying beer, bad for catching baseballs.
On Saturday, a fan learned the sloppy way that when you attempt to catch a flyball, pretty much anything beats your cup of beer.
The splashy spectacle took place in the stands during a game between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
MLB's Cut4 reports that Thea Vierling, the fan in question, initially caught the ball in her cup of beer. When the cup broke on impact, she lost the ball in the stands. Happily, she was able to recover it. She tells Cut4 that she usually brings a glove to games, but was without one on Saturday.
Nice try, Thea -- just don't forget your mitt next time.
