The singer, who has struggled with substance abuse, bulimia, bipolar disorder and depression, told CBS's Tracy Smith that "it feels good" to buy into the center that houses the programs that helped her heal. 。

"I promised [God], 'If you make me a singer one day, I’m going to use my voice for so much more than singing, and I’m going to help people with it,'" she told Smith. 。
Sticking to her commitment, she's brought CAST's founder and CEO Mike Bayer on her tour with Nick Jonas this summer, holding mental health workshops with fans before every concert. 。
Lovato also spoke about mental illness at this year's Democratic National Convention. "I stand here today as proof that you can live a normal and empowered life with mental illness," she said at the event.。
