談到為何選擇12號球衣 ，申花吳曦表示是新援选择因為兩個孩子都是12號出生 ，而且結婚紀念日也是球衣12號 。
對於最終選擇申花的号码号原因，吳曦表示 ：“選擇加盟申花 ，公布是吴曦因為我是一個喜歡安定 ，不喜歡折騰的德里人 ，我也是一個重感情的人 。江蘇出問題之後 ，第一時間吳總和周總就與我取得聯係 ，我也非常感謝 ，有過第一次加盟的情感在 ，促使我最終回歸申花。”
